Volvo Unveils the Luxurious and Powerful 2026 Volvo ES90 Electric Sedan

New electric sedan unveiled by Volvo. Are they going into the right direction?
Volvo continues its ambitious journey into electrification with the reveal of its latest electric luxury sedan, the 2026 Volvo ES90. Described affectionately by automotive enthusiasts as an “attractive sedan-adjacent EV,” the ES90 blends sleek Scandinavian design with remarkable power, signaling Volvo’s commitment to becoming a leader in the premium EV segment.
At the heart of the ES90 is a robust electric drivetrain capable of producing an impressive 670 horsepower, allowing the sedan to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just over 3 seconds. This positions the ES90 as not only one of Volvo’s most powerful vehicles ever but also a serious competitor to established luxury electric sedans like the Tesla Model S, Lucid Air, and Mercedes-Benz EQS.

Inside, Volvo emphasizes sustainability and comfort, incorporating high-quality, ethically sourced materials, including recycled textiles and responsibly harvested wood. Advanced driver-assistance systems and cutting-edge connectivity features further enhance the driving experience, promising both safety and convenience.
The ES90 also underscores Volvo’s broader electrification strategy: the Swedish automaker has committed to becoming a fully electric car company by 2030. The ES90 joins Volvo’s expanding lineup of electric vehicles, such as the XC40 Recharge and the C40 Recharge, showcasing the company’s rapid pace towards this ambitious goal.
Is This the Right Direction for the Swedish Giant?

I mean, don’t get me wrong, EVs have their place in the current world, at first I was a hater I admit, but if you need something to zip around congested towns, then they are great alternatives. However they aren’t great on long-distance trips and I’m not so sure how green they actually are anyway when we take into account everything that involves building an EV.
Not only that, but it seems that since last year, many big car manufacturers announced a slight halt or pause in their push to electrify their whole range. CarBuzz lists some of the big ones such as: Mercedes-Benz, Ford, GM, and Jaguar to name a few.
Oh and that synthetic eFuel is certainly going to be a big step forward for ICE cars.
Anyway, what do you think about the latest offering from Volvo? Do you like it?
